Autumn activities in the kindergarten garden
Autumn is harvest time. The children of Homok Kindergarten joined in to harvest the vegetables and fruits they had planted and sown in the kindergarten garden in spring. Together with their teachers, the children gathered and even tasted their own produce, including carrots, pumpkins, peppers, cucumbers, kohlrabi, cabbage and tomatoes.
In addition to plants, our garden also has various fruit trees, displaying beautiful autumn colors. The children observed the falling leaves together, watching as the colorful foliage blanketed the garden soil. They collected the fallen leaves as a group, which not only helped keep the garden clean but also provided a fun shared task. The gathered leaves were later used for creative projects, like making autumn postcards or leaf prints, while the remaining leaves were placed in the compost bin. During leaf cleanup, they learned that teamwork and shared effort are important parts of caring for the environment.
The autumn garden is a magical place where children can learn many new things while having fun. The beauty of nature and caring for the garden support the children’s development and leave them with lasting memories.
